Identiv and S+P Samson partner to protect patients with RFID technology

Identiv announced that the company has partnered with S+P Samson to produce the latest innovation for surgery instruments and medical devices using radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. In working directly with hospitals and Identiv, S+P Samson has developed an extremely thin, small ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID label to stick on stainless steel and plastics, like medical instruments. Hikvision unveils new speed dome camera with impressive optical zoom

Hikvision, a supplier of innovative video surveillance products and solutions has launched a new Network IR Speed Dome (DS-2DF8250I5X-AEL (W)) with an impressive 50x optical zoom lens, giving it the ability to pick out more details over wider areas. The camera is also the first product to have Optical Image Stabilisation to compensate for image drift.

50X Optical Zoom

With a zoom lens that can go from 6.6mm to 330mm, objects can be seen at an even further distance than before. This gives the operator a lot more flexibility to track and check people or objects in and around their area. The camera also boasts Eagle Eye focus technology, making the image clear, even when zooming.
Optical Image Stabilisation

The Speed Dome is the first Hikvision camera to use the new Optical Image Stabilization technology, making the image clearer than ever. When the lens is stable, the image is focused on the centre of the sensor, but when the lens shakes that focus drifts away from the center. This causes blurring on the image. The camera uses a gyroscope to measure the vibration and send that information to a processing chip. This then uses an algorithm to make an adjustment to the IS lens to correct the drift.

Other features include:

• 2MP, with H.265+
• Up to 500m IR distance
• Rapid focus, for a clear image even when zooming
• 1/2.8” progressive scan CMOS chip.

This camera can be used in scenarios that call for wide ranges and/or high-definition. This makes it ideal for outdoor areas, such as the rivers, forests, roads, railways, airports, ports, squares, parks, scenic spots, stations and large venues.

A Hikvision Product Manager said, “This product offers customers not just one, but two firsts for us. One of our furthest zoom distances coupled with our new optical image stabilization technology, means they can benefit from stable images at further distances. It’s another example of our drive to continuously push innovation in the surveillance industry. ”

Genetec and Alutel extend access control with mobile reader capabilities

Genetec, a provider of open architecture security and public safety solutions, announced that its technology partner Alutel Mobility, a manufacturer of mobile access control systems, now offers extended access control capabilities to open areas like transport facilities, construction sites, mining, oil and gas operations, and education establishments without having to rely on physical readers or installations. Milestone Systems Prevails in License Dispute With OnSSI

A New York federal judge has signed off on a Danish arbitration award in a contractual dispute between Milestone Systems and On-Net Surveillance Systems (OnSSI), settling a court case disputing the foreign panel’s decision.

In a two-page order dated July 12, U.S. District Court judge Jesse M. Furman confirmed two awards in favor of Milestone Systems requiring OnSSI to stop reproducing and distributing certain software owned by Milestone, law360.com reports. (more…)
