Avigilon enters into agreement to sell office tower for $107.5M

VMware moves into IoT space

VMware is hoping to make its mark in the Internet of Things (IoT) arena with a new brand and planned range of products addressing the market.

At the Dell EMC World event taking place this week in Las Vegas, VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger used his keynote speech to unveil the Pulse IoT Centre, a tool designed to allow businesses to manage their IoT infrastructure and devices. Axis Communications today announced that Cognimatics’ applications have been fully integrated with Axis’ network cameras, audio, and access control products. Axis acquired Cognimatics in 2016 after a long, successful partnership.

The new solutions will be marketed solely under the Axis brand, and will support retailers in two critical areas – store optimization solutions for customer understanding and revenue growth and loss prevention solutions to prevent theft.

EyeLock receives patent for mobility identity platforms

EyeLock, provider of iris-based identity authentication solutions, announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued U.S. Patent No. 9,626,563. The patent broadly covers mobility identity platforms and represents the company’s 46th issued patent.

“Our latest patented invention helps provide a fast and easy user experience by using the opportunistic acquisition of a sequence of images to select a limited number of images with the best iris-related quality metrics to hold in memory for further processing,” said Jim Demitrieus, CEO of EyeLock. “Once the images are selected, our algorithms immediately create a template which is then used for matching and recognition.” (more…)
